We are delighted to welcome Tsholofelo Mfulwane, Tsholo (pronounced ch-o-l-o) for short, to our Safari Camp family. Having joined us just over two months ago she has fitted in and found her feet really quickly.
This is Tsholo’s first job in the bush and she is absolutely loving it so far. She says it is different from anywhere else she has ever worked before which is so inspiring for her, and she loves going on a safari. Her first time out in the Timbavati and she got to see some lionesses feeding their cubs, she will always treasure this incredible experience.
Tsholo finds the bush a not only beautiful, but also a wonderfully peaceful environment to work in (even with Chef Ryan around!). Although she is very talented in her own rights she is embracing the opportunity to learn in this natural environment alongside the talents of Chef Ryan and Gerhard, two incredible mentors and chefs to work alongside.
This young talented chef grew up in a family of chefs, with two uncles and an aunt all in the industry it was a job she knew all about while growing up, but her passion for cooking only kicked in when she was in high school. After finishing her schooling she went to a hotel school where she learnt to work in all different departments, but was still determined that the kitchen was where she wanted to be.
When she finished her practical at the Sheraton Hotel they offered her a position. After a few years there she went to a small restaurant in Johannesburg and then for the last ten years has been working at a wedding venue. Every single job has been unique and taught her different skills.
Her real love in the kitchen is playing with sauces as well as the meat sections which means you can expect to see some even greater things coming from the Tanda Tula kitchen in the future.
We are really excited to have Tsholo on our team and embrace her passion to grow and experiment. Welcome!
