SCS Earth Day Festival
HOEDSPRUIT – On Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 Southern Cross Schools will be hosting an Earth Day Festival. The festival ties in with International Earth Day on April 22. A large market including stalls with homemade and handmade products and exhibitors will form the centre piece of the festival.
Events including a cultural festival (drama, music and dance), a ‘fashion from trash’ show, an art exhibition, an Afrikaans first additional language Eisteddfod and a mountain bike race will be held over the two days.
On Friday evening a ‘barnyard style’ show will be held in the Founders’ Circle under the stars. The programme includes the Haenertsburg Marimba Band and the SCS Drummers as the curtain raiser. Visitors can also look forward to a physical theatre production by professional performers on behalf of the Palaeontological Scientific Trust (PAST) on the origins of man. This production has toured worldwide and even performed at Nelson Mandela’s 94th birthday celebrations. Our very own Roots of Rhythm, directed byMaureenLahoud, will follow to finish the evening on a dance extravaganza high.
Throughout the Earth Day Festival there will be food stalls, a tea garden with fresh cakes and pancakes, organic wines to taste and purchase and plenty of good entertainment.
