Lazing Leopard

We have a resident female leopard near camp called Rockfig, and she sure loves lounging in a tree.

Often on a morning game drive we find her dangling from a branch, snoozing while the world carries on below her. Leopards use trees to hoist their kills away from preying scavengers, or as a vantage point to look for prey, but they also use them to catch 40 winks without disruption. This beautiful female is a big fan of this.

She has been hanging around our safari camp a lot recently. Her cub has become relaxed enough to start drinking from the pool when all the guests are sleeping.

These relaxed leopards allow for magnificent viewing opportunities and we feel so privileged to have them on our doorstep in the Timbavati Private Nature reserve.
