Elephants Abound

It just feels like everywhere you turn there are elephants, and the destruction they leave in their wake seems more acute than ever. With so little vegetation left and the summer heat already setting in everyone is suffering, there is not enough food for most of the animals and winter is starting to take it’s toll.

The elephants have almost no greenery left in terms grass and leaves and so are forced to feed off bark from trees and branches, where they get at least some moisture and nutrition. However it does leave the bush looking rather ramshackle and derelict. It is almost impossible to imagine that when the rains finally do come this dessert like landscape will be transformed into an world of lush olive green foliage.

In the meantime we must accept this harsh environment, forgive these giant mammals with the knowledge that this is all part of the cycle of life.
