A Young Female Coming Into Her Own

Dale Jackson recently captured these images of Nyelenti, daughter of our resident female leopard Rockfig, displaying signs of her growing up and beginning to come in to her own.

She has started to scent mark and explore more on her own and further afield that she is used to travelling. These pictures show her scent marking in an area very near to the Tanda Tula bush breakfast site.

Nyelenti means star, apply named for her striking beauty, it is marvellous to see her growing into a confident female and starting to carve her own territory. She is by no way displacing her mother, but simply working around her to make her own place in the Timbavati.
