The staff at our Safari Camp make a wonderful impression on our guests. Some members of our staff have been at the lodge for more than 30 years! Their loyalty and passion for their work and the environment shines through. We consider ourselves to be incredibly fortunate to have such a friendly and hard working team.
Marlene McCay, founder and partner
Marlene McCay first set up a commercial operation on the land owned by her family in the early 1980′s.
Marlene’s principles and values have been an intrinsic part of the development of Tanda Tula’s ethos; that of creating a quality wilderness experience, while operating responsibly, both from a conservation and a community perspective. To this end, Marlene has been the creator and chief benefactor of “Save the Elephants of South Africa”, an NPO which aims to provide valuable research into elephants in the Southern African context. Guests can visit the Save the Elephants research centre located in our safari camp. Read more about Save the Elephants here.
Don and Nina Scott, managing partners
Don and Nina Scott joined Marlene as managing partners of Tanda Tula in January 2009. They bring with them a broad base of international experience and share the underlying values and principles on which Tanda Tula was built.
Based at Tanda Tula, Don and Nina oversee the general management of the camp, they specialise in cross cultural management philosophies and continue to create a sense of family amongst staff and guests. Don and Nina are intimately involved in conservation, healthcare and community development projects.
Dale and Hayley Jackson, camp managers
Dale and Hayley Jackson joined Tanda Tula as operations managers in early 2009, and have since taken the operational side of the business to new levels. Dale is one of the most experienced and qualified guides in the Lowveld, and as operations manager, runs a superb team of passionate and knowledgeable guides.
Hayley, who has run numerous lodges in her career in the bush, has a background in fine food and wine. They are truly well rounded hosts, who know the meaning of anticipating and meeting the needs of our guests, and maintaining a wonderful family of staff at Tanda Tula Safari Camp.
